Two brothers, Jinta and Wataru, are raised in a travelling circus. After an accident, Jinta decides to leave the circus and travels the countryside working as a con-man. Wataru stays with the circus and works hard to regain its former glory.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I watched it many years ago from a VHS recording made by my film studies teacher when it was aired on TV. It left a lasting impression on my mind, but it's impossible to find. I would either have to track down a second hand copy of the UK release on VHS, or import the subtitle-less Japanese DVD. This is a truly wonderful film, which makes me feel deep abstract emotions which no other film can.
