Bébé tire à la cible (1912)

Bébé tire à la cible / Jimmie Pulls the Trigger

Director: Louis Feuillade
Stars: Renée Carl, René Dary (as Clément Mary), Paul Manson, Jeanne Saint-Bonnet

Seventy-seven films between 1911 and 1913, and a star status, the small Mary Clement, alias Bébé ("Baby"), was the prodigy son of a former comic artist of café concert named Abelard, and the idol of a public that relished with delight his sometimes cruel pranks and the insolence he kept in a society where the child was still a prisoner of a strict moral. Louis Feuillade, who advised his colleagues to always put a child into their movies to attract the favor of the audiences, made him his main interpreter up to when he preferred another small phenomenon, René Poyen called Bout de Zan.
One of the most revealing of the famous film series with the very young Clement Mary (future René Dary), his parents and his movie's housemaid: Renée Carl, Paul and Jeanne Manson Saint-Bonnet. Behind the joke, the amazing cynicism of a scenario with a couple of exemplary petty bourgeois who guffaw at the misadventures of a faithful servant victim of the passion of their son for rifle shooting.
